These resources were developed through the STEP (Sustainable Transportation Education Program) which was a pilot program in both urban, suburban and rural (Peterborough, Markham and Toronto) secondary schools in Ontario. While Green Communities | Active & Safe Routes to School has run successful programs in elementary schools the STEP program was our first opportunity in developing programs for high schools. STEP helped high schools tackle transportation problems while increasing awareness and education about air quality, climate change and healthy lifestyle issues.
